Discover the Chuquisaca living culture with the Pisili indigenous Community

This is a one-day experiential tour. The inhabitants share part of their daily routine in agricultural production, food preparation and handicrafts. In addition to its live music and culture.

The Pisili indigenous community, part of the Yampara nation, invites you to live a unique tourist experience in the Tarabuco municipality, at the Chuquisaca department, in southern Bolivia. Thanks to its community tourism proposal, the destination offers a living culture experience, full of ancestral knowledge.

From the Rumi Tambo agroecological farm, the visitor will be able to connect with nature and enjoy the native and exotic trees landscape, mainly pine, where mushrooms production and harvest can also be observed.

The one-day tour includes a visit to the “Yachay Wasi Pisili” indigenous school, where students attend in typical clothing every Monday and the teaching is bilingual: Quechua and Spanish.

At the Yampara Indigenous Textile Art Craft Center, “Away Wasi”, you will be able to discover and learn the textile art making process woven manually by indigenous women. And if you are looking for crafts with a Yampara identity, here you will find a variety of garments for daily clothing, pujllay dance costumes such as monteras (helmet type hats) and other designs at the customer’s request.

The community’s typical gastronomy is of local and ecological production. Part of the experience includes tasting dishes such as quinoa phisara, wheat lawita and pigeon chili, among others.

Almost at the end of the day, the locals perform a native Inca Palla dance demonstration, inviting their visitors to join the celebration dressed in native costumes. The visit concludes with a photo session and visitors receive a complimentary souvenir.
