The Weenhayek Gastronomic Experience is an exciting community tourism program that will allow you to learn how to prepare and taste one of the most representative ancestral dishes of this culture: Sábalo a la mordaza. Two brothers with indigenous ancestry, belonging to the wichís or matacos group, will teach you all the secrets of this delicious recipe passed down from generation to generation.

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome on the banks of the Pilcomayo River, where you will be received by the friendly inhabitants of Villamontes, who will guide you in this unique experience. After a relaxing walk along the river, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Weenhayek culture while the brothers explain in detail each step to prepare the shad for the gag. From scaling fish to seasoning it Weenhayek-style, you’ll learn every aspect of this traditional recipe.

Once the dish is ready, you can enjoy lunch in front of the imposing Pilcomayo River, enjoying the delicious food in the company of your loved ones and a pleasant chat with the hosts. The panoramic view and the serenity of the surroundings will add a special touch to this unforgettable culinary experience.

It is important to note that the Weenhayek Gastronomic Experience requires a reservation at least 4 days in advance and a minimum of 4 people to guarantee an authentic and personalized experience. The itinerary is designed so that you can make the most of every moment:

• 10:00 a.m.: Welcome on the banks of the Pilcomayo River.

• 11:00 a.m.: Walk along the river, enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

• 12:00 p.m.: Explanation and preparation of Sábalo a la mordaza, learning the secrets of Weenhayek cooking.

• 1:00 p.m.: Service of the exquisite fish prepared by yourself.

• 2:00 p.m.: Return to Villamontes with a heart full of new experiences and flavors.

The price of the service includes a community tour guide, the dish of Sábalo a la mordaza and a personal drink to enjoy next to the Pilcomayo river. However, please note that transportation to the activity location and additional drinks are not included.
